You will need cream cheese, taco seasoning, green onions, cheese, tomatoes and black olives. | ||
First combine 2-8oz packages cream cheese (softened) and one tablespoon taco seasoning, mix very well. |
I use this seasoning instead of the taco seasoning - has a great flavor! Next add 1 teaspoon garlic powder and again mix well. |
Cut up 2 green onions into small slices. |
You will start at the green end and cut into the white but not using much of the white end as you can see above. |
Stir in the green onions and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, mix well. |
Cut a plump tomato in half, cut one of the halves in half again and remove the center. |
Center of tomato removed, make sure to scrape out any seeds also. |
Cut into thin slices and then into small cubes of tomato. You will use about 1/2 of the tomato. |
For the first layer place about 1/2 cup of the mixture in the bottom of the bowl. Dip your hand in water (shake it off as you don't want your dip all watered down) and then smooth out the mixture. |
Now add a thin layer of finely chopped black olives, softly pressing them into the mixture. |
Sprinkle a little bit of the shredded cheddar cheese over the olives. |
Making sure the plastic is away from the edges of your torta, place a 'fancy' dish or plate over the bowl and then flip. |
Remove your plastic wrap and tada!!! Serve with assorted crackers. |
Enjoy!!!
